CPR or cardiopulmonary resuscitation is an emergency technique used to restore or maintain a person’s breathing until medical help arrives.

Allianze University College of Medical Sciences polyclinic organized a CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) course for the staff last week. The purpose is to equip staff with the basic first aid procedure.  Several experts were invited to conduct the training including Dr. Aslam Farooqui (Oxygen Therapy), Mr. PD Karthikayan (Adult CPR), Madam Radha (Infant & Child CPR). About 50 AUCMS staff attended the half-day program at Waziria Medical Square, Kepala Batas. The trainers shared their experience and demonstrated the required techniques to perform CPR. It is hoped that the training can be conducted regularly on campus in order to improve skills and create awareness about the importance of first aid procedure.

At the end of the training the staff learned that in saving life, it is important to have the right knowledge and skills in emergency rescue procedure. Confidence and competency in applying the technique can be built over time. Most importantly is to do something when you are faced with a life emergency situation than to do nothing at all.
