It’s camping time! The student development program is back and this time it has a new name – Self & Professional Development Camp or SPD Camp. The venue is at Synergy Outdoor Training Centre, Ara Kuda, Penang.

The campground is nestled in a lush palm oil and rubber tree estate about 20 kilometres from Kepala Batas town. Surrounded by green palm oil growth with a pond in the middle, it makes for a perfect training ground for our future doctors and healthcare providers. The 2 and half day program was organized by with the cooperation from lecturers from various faculties in the university. The camp was designed to challenge and build various aspects of student qualities. Among the challenges is "10 stations". This event requires participants to test their physical and mental endurance.

The camp combine a nice blend of different outdoor activities, elaborating on communication, team building, problem solving, leadership, and much more. “It is a good and hard work by all parties but fun indeed” said Puan Norhayati from School of Nursing. Through this camping and training activity they share in the camaraderie that is such an important part of self and professional development of future leaders.
